If the point of paying in crypto is not being tracked, Bitcoin is a strange choice: every payment is public forever. Monero was built for the opposite. Ring signatures hide who sent it, stealth addresses hide who received it, and confidential transactions hide how much. Pair that with a shop that never asks who you are and you get the closest thing to buying a prepaid SIM with cash from a kiosk, except you are on a train and the kiosk is in another country.
What you need
- Some XMR in a wallet you control. Cake Wallet (iOS and Android), Feather (desktop) and the official GUI all work. Exchange withdrawals work too but are slower.
- A phone that supports eSIM and is not carrier-locked: iPhone XS or newer, Pixel 3 or newer, Galaxy S20 or newer, and most recent Android flagships.
- Nothing else. No account, no email, no ID.
The flow, step by step
- Open the destinations list and pick the country. Each page shows every plan we carry there with the cheapest first; for popular countries you will see plans from more than one carrier side by side.
- Choose a plan and click Pay with Crypto, then Monero. There is no sign-up step. The page shows a fresh subaddress and the exact XMR amount for the plan's USD price at that moment.
- Send the exact amount. Monero fees are a fraction of a cent, so a one-dollar plan is a one-dollar plan.
- Wait for one block, about two minutes. The payment page updates itself, and it works with JavaScript off if you prefer.
- The eSIM appears: a QR code, the manual SM-DP+ address and activation code, and a PDF that contains all of it plus your login key.
That login key is worth a sentence. We create an anonymous account for you at checkout, a random 32-character string and nothing else, so you can come back for usage and top-ups. It is printed in the PDF. There is no email to reset it with because there is no email. Keep the PDF.
What stays private
On the chain: the sender, the receiver and the amount are all hidden by Monero itself. On our side: we never asked for a name, email, phone number or document, we keep no web access logs, and we set no cookies for people who are browsing. The crypto payment is processed by our own node, not a payment company, so no third party has a record of the address next to your order.
What does not stay private, honestly
An eSIM is a SIM. When your phone connects, the mobile network sees your device identifier and a rough location, exactly as it does for every phone on that network. No seller can change that, and any that claims to is selling a story. What a Monero-paid, no-KYC eSIM removes is everything else: the identity on file, the payment trail, and the app phoning home. For most people that is the part that mattered.
